When you come from a city that hardly has any diversity, do you criticize it for not having it? NO it's just something that the city couldn't control. Ideally the city would be diverse and populated with people of many colors, of many backgrounds and of many beliefs. But, it's not the city's fault that it's not diverse, it's not even the people. Searching for something to point at, is no better than critcizing a rock for being made of sand. It is what it is. Now, when the people of the city take active steps to beat people down who are different shades of human, who are from different backgrounds, or who hold different beliefs, that's when you can criticize the city.
I'm sure that this rambling doesn't make much sense, but it's what I felt like writing right now.
I just came back from Male and I's 'night out'. I don't regret going, it was great. But now that I think about it, it would've been better if we had spent time to talk or chat. Dirty Dancing: Habana Nights is not a bad movie; Male thought that the aspects of Cuban culture that they show was really correct. It was even a short movie...less on the guilt trip.
I've got a few more things to do before I go to bed: (1) Sunny's b'day (2) Spanish diarios (3) Core Reflection Paper.
Hopefully, I'll be in bed by 12h30...but I doubt it. Awake at 5h50 again!
I can't wait for SB. I'll be able to go home.
(Goals)
I will have an experience for the March district meeting.
I will have a heart-to-heart dialogue with my parents. I need to understand where they're coming from. I will seek their voices and their hearts. For my sake, and for theirs, we need to have "this talk" that we've been avoiding.
